In our Outpatient Clinic for returning travelers we offer specialized services for the diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases, with regard to parasitic, bacterial and viral infections. The most common health problems after traveling include diarrhea, fever and skin affections. We also perform the required medical examination according to regulation 35 (G35, stay abroad under particular conditions) and the respective post-travel medical examination.
You are here:
1. Acute complaints
We have an open consultation service (without appointment) for patients with acute complaints (e.g. fever, bloody diarrhea): Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. An initial evaluation will take place on site and you will either be treated directly or receive an appointment. Please present yourself before 11 a.m. if possible. Please plan for longer waiting times. If you have a fever or acute respiratory symptoms, please observe the indication board at the entrance. Outside our opening hours, the emergency department is available for emergencies (such as fever after a stay in a malaria area).
2. Non-acute complaints / examination of chronic illnesses
3. Follow-up visit for control check-up
4. Medical examination according to regulation G35 - Examination before and after the stay abroad
For so-called tropical health examinations according to Grundsatz 35 (G 35) of the German Employer's Liability Insurance Association, a personal appointment is necessary. Please send us a message via email for this purpose. Please note for persons aged ≥ 45 years: You will receive a referral from us for ergometry (exercise electrocardiogram), which you should plan independently in the outpatient area.
5. Rabies consultation
Immediate presentation is recommended after any animal contact suspected of being infected with rabies. You do not need an appointment. The opening hours of our outpatient clinic for this purpose are Monday - Friday from 08.00 - 14.00. Outside these hours, consultation and care are also provided through the Charité emergency rooms. Please bring immunization records and relevant documentation (for example on previous rabies vaccinations). Further information can be found HERE.
If you have any questions regarding prophylactic rabies vaccinations for a travel, the medical travel consultation is intended for this purpose. You can book an appointment for the medical travel consultation here.
