Epidemiology: Malaria and Diarrhoea

However, its role as compared to bacterial, viral, and parasitic pathogens causing diarrhoea remains unclear. In a case-control study among 240 paediatric patients with acute diarrhoea and 120 control children in Tamale, viral, bacterial, and parasitic pathogens causing diarrhoea are examined. These examinations take place being part of a capacity building project in Tamale and Berlin. Viral infections, rotavirus in particular, predominate as causes of acute diarrhoea in Tamale, northern Ghana. Malaria plays a comparatively inferior role in this regard.
