The working group was founded in 2021 based on joint activities with partners in Rwanda and Germany which date back to the Ebola Fever Epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2018 and 2019. Central objective of the working group is to explore and present solutions to better protect health care workers and patients from High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCIDs) and Emerging Infections (EIs) as well as to enhance epidemic preparedness in public health response. The group is involved in studies regarding the impact of epidemics on health care personnel, the competences of health care workers regarding infection prevention and control, the development of enhanced architectural and digital solutions for health care facilities to improve infection prevention control as well as digital tools for outbreak-related health education.
