Clinic partnership Butare

You are here:

The Butare University Teaching Hospital (CHUB: Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Butare) and the IIG have been cooperating since 2009 within the framework of hospital and university clinic partnerships, see also here. The current hospital partnership (GIZ funding line "Global") focuses on the establishment of an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) programme in Butare (surveillance, therapy guidelines, laboratory diagnostics) as well as the establishment and support of a group of medical trainers for infection prevention and control against highly pathogenic pathogens and emerging or epidemic infectious diseases. Most recently, these local trainers were trained in measures for Marburg virus outbreaks in a joint training with the RKI and the RBC (current outbreak in neighbouring Tanzania - April 2023).
