Sexuelle und Reproduktive Gesundheit in Äthiopien

Sie befinden sich hier:

Ethiopia has one of the highest prevalence of both sexual and physical violence by an intimate partner. 71% of women in Ethiopia reported physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. This high rate of forced sex seriously compromises women's ability to protect themselves from HIV. Female genital mutilation (FGM) differs from most other forms of violence against women in that. FGM is internationally recognized as a violation of the human rights of girls and women, reflecting deep-rooted inequality between the sexes. The procedure can cause severe bleeding, infection and problems urinating, and increases the risk of complications in childbirth and newborn deaths. It is estimated that more than 70% of all females in Ethiopia have undergone circumcision. The Institute of Tropical Medicine and International Health together with Wolaita Sodo University will develop a two year Master of Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health &Rights Research (MSc SRH&RR) program relevant to local, regional and national needs and priorities based on current, up-to-date scientific evidence. Professional development-related networks and active dialogue between students, alumni and experts in the health sector are supported and established.
